My brother and I were having a conversation about the direction Doctor Who has taken the other night after the finale and I pretty much said this exactly. It’s such a shame because I really do like Matt and I don’t have a problem with the characters but the way the stories are being written are just… all wrong. I miss when I learned something about myself from this show - when I could identify with the companions. The whole “girl who waited” and “impossible girl” bit where the Doctor just happens to run into these women who for some reason just alter the universe for no apparent reason is just getting old.
I’m trying to hold on to the show but I honestly don’t know if I’ll make it past the 50th anniversary. I’m only holding out for David.
